Leah Kalanguka was Crowned Miss Uganda 2014-15. Computer Engineer Beat other Finalists to the ‘Beauty with a Purpose’ Miss Uganda Crown Where she will be the Country’s Agricultural Ambassador.

Leah always believed she would once be Miss Uganda. As such, she has always kept the faith and when she gave it a try this year she knew she was definitely going to be a winner. I am not surprised I have been crowned one. However it was not automatic because all the other girls deserved. They made it to the finals and you have to congratulate them too,” said Leah who will be representing Uganda to the Miss World UK early next month.

Leah qualified for the finals from Eastern Uganda, particularly Iganga district. Leah believes Miss Uganda platform is a great experience for any girl who is dreaming of becoming somebody in the country and beyond. It’s lovely. Personally I have learnt about so many things in life but most importantly agriculture. It’s one thing I never thought about because I always thought its one’s very last resort,” she said moments after the crown.

Speaking to this writer, Leah says she will be a voice to the voiceless with a passion for agriculture. She says agriculture as a sector has a large potential for jobs, the products themselves are profitable in more ways than one.

A computer engineer professionally, she hopes to develop both soft and hardware that will be useful in agriculture. As Miss Uganda, Leah wants to marry her profession (computer engineering) and agriculture for a better Uganda.

As Miss Uganda Leah was awarded a Toyota Raum Brand new car (Reg.No UAW 330B). She is entitled to a monthly stipend as salary that she will be receiving quarterly among several other things. Brenda Iriama and Yasmin Taban finished as 1st and second runner-up respectively.
