Total aids Anaka Town Council health/sanitation campaign

Total E&P has donated 16 street liters bins worthy 2million shilling to Nwoya district in a bid to improve on the heath and sanitation of the district through the ‘Keep Anaka Town Council Clean’ campaign.

 

 

According to Chris Ocowun, the public relation officer Total E&P, the installation of the litter bins came at a time when there was growing need by the district and locals to improve on the health and sanitation of the district thus Total as a responsible development partner took on the initiative to help communities where it operates to improve on the quality of their lives.

 

 

“The fabrication of the street litter bins is aimed at proper waste management and ensures a safe, clean and healthy environment free of preventable diseases related to dirt’s like cholera and diarrhea from crop up in the community” Ocowun said.

 

 

The Town Clerk, Anaka Town Council, John Paul Onyee appreciated the effort of Total E&P Uganda towards lifting the standard of living of the communities within Anaka Town Council and the neighboring areas.

 

 

Onyee revealed that the bins will help answer the numerous calls for proper waste management in the area as plans are set to collect the waste every Tuesday and Friday as stipulated in the town council cleanliness plan.  However, onyee said they still have a long way to go in mobilizing and sensitizing the business community and town dwellers on proper use of the bins.

 

 

The street litter bins have been installed along Gulu-Olwiyo road, which is the busiest street in Anaka and in front of major government offices like office of the CAO, RDC, Engineering block and Anaka Town Council hall.

 

 

Ocowun state that Nwoya is the second district after Pakwach to benefit from the waste management campaigns after two huge garbage banks were constructed this year.
