Police has revealed that 19 dead bodies have been retrieve at Ndaiga in Kibale district after a boat carrying 96 people capsized on the shores of Lake Albert today due to overloading
to Police report, the boat carrying mostly Congolese refugees from Kyenjojo
landing site in Kyangwali , Hoima District where heading to Ntoroko district and there after head to Congo when
the accident occurred.
The Public relation officer, western region, Lidia Tumusahabe, says Forty five (45) people have been rescued alive including the captain of the boat who is under detention pending questioning by the criminal intelligence officers, while 32 People are still missing.
The 19 dead bodies have been sent to Ntoroko district Hospital Mortuary. Police Marine's are already at the scene and doing everything possible to recover any other bodies that may be underneath.
